THE ROYAL HOSPITAL DONNYBROOK
This Altar Crucifix was commissioned in 2011 by the Chaplin of the Royal Hospital, Donnybrook.
Extract from the Hospital's Web Site. "The Royal Hospital Donnybrook (RHD) is the oldest hospital of its type in Ireland. It was established in inner city Dublin in 1743 and moved to its current location of Donnybrook, in 1804. Set in 13 acres of ground, the hospital provides rehabilitation services, continuing care and respite to adults of all ages. The hospital is an independent, voluntary, charitable organisation. Services are provided on a not-for-profit basis." The directions were to design a Crucifix that would be contemplative in nature. The Cross is made from Irish Yew and the figure is cast in bronze. The piece measures 50 cms in height.
